Micro and intimate weddings have really become exceedingly popular in 2020 and our business truly pivoted to accommodate. Christmas is the best time of the year in my opinion. We designed this shoot around the warm, candlelit, Christmas dinners our family always had. We included Greenery, Christmas lights, candles, and oh so much snow! The bride’s gown is a new design that had an overall look like it was covered in snow and sparkles. The groom’s tux was the perfect shade of red for the season. We included touches of gold in the greenery and filled the venue with candlelight.

We’re All About the Details!

Picture this, Guests walking in the charming Garden District with its grand historic mansions and the lavish gardens of St. Charles Avenue, located on the Mardi Gras parade route. Guests arrive stilling holding the gold letterpressed invitations, with hand laid foil detail in the envelope liner and are greeted with cocktails and other delicious flavors served in a romantic vine-covered courtyard before being seated at the beautiful Livingston hand-carved dining tables, surrounded by the comfortable Mackenzie side chairs and the richly dressed Claudia host chairs. Places are held with matching place cards and elegantly printed menu cards with the evenings delectable offerings. The resplendent table-scape of Ethan Allen accents are paired with the elegantly simple Modern Grace dinnerware and Grand Royal Platinum Crystal stemware from Villeroy and Boch. Pirouette and Bloom provided the Gold, green and teal glass marquee vases that are filled with Purple roses, hydrangea, Veronica, cilia, and delphiniums. All surrounded by Italian Ruscus and Tropical leaves. A nod to Mardi Gras of course.Our model is dressed in the stunning “Iris” gown by Riki Dalal, which is a fitting reminder of the french quarter. The gown plays with delicate and embellished lace over nude illusion. The mermaid silhouette highlights every curve while its plunging neckline and cutouts balance out its beautiful flared train for an elegantly daring look.Each piece of exquisite crystal jewelry from “Viola” captures the seductive elements of the contemporary woman, personifying class and fierce designs. Such a stunning gown and jewellry, need no competition, so alistbeauty.ca kept the makeup fresh and feminine and put the bride’s hair in a glamorous woven low bun enhanced with champagne colored orchids. Reminiscent of the great Billie Holiday. The sweet table is set up by cake creations by Michelle. A marbled design, two-tiered caked is enhanced with gold leaf and beautiful white sugar garden roses. Inside red velvet sponge cake is paired with cream cheese buttercream. Two delicate marbled mini cakes are pink and white to complement the decor, the flavors are decadent chocolate sponge paired with a mouthwatering chocolate buttercream in the middle to satisfy the rich taste of our groom.

Take this Advice

We’re All About the Details!

There are so many details that I love from this event, and a couple, in particular, stood out to me. The gorgeous floral backdrop was such a beautiful detail that literally light up the room. I also loved the table setting, especially the serveware (luxury stoneware dishes and pitchers). I love the colors, textures and the look of them that really made the room pop. I also love the white drapery, vintage chairs, and the bridal gown–everything was so beautiful!

Take this Advice

Planning a wedding (or any special event) can be overwhelming, there’s so much to think about and consider from guest experience to the bride and groom. I think the most important advice I can give to couples still in the planning process is to have trust in the process; trust your planner, designer, coordinator–they know what they’re doing. Don’t get to hung up or stressed out about the details (not if you have a planner or stylist). If you are planning your wedding yourself without the help of a professional, really think about your budget, think about what you both want, must-haves vs. nice-to-haves, and really narrow it down to what’s important. At the end of the day, t his is about YOU and no one else. remember to have fun throughout the process, it is so easy to lose sight of the big picture so I would say, definitely, take it one day at a time. Shooting inside the stunning Mackie Lake House only added to the mood with so many well-preserved details. The home feels comfortable well still providing the type of history you expect to see in a museum.

The Wardrobe

Julia is wearing a classic white laced trumpet dress paired by her faceted white and silver closed-toe pumps that looks wonderful with her bridesmaids wearing light blue gowns. Her light make-up truly shows her asian beauty in modern style, while Baki is wearing a standard black satin tuxedo with a white rose boutonniere. A perfect combination of tradition and elegance.

This ballroom table setting from The Vancouver Club looks marvelous! Luscious flower arrangements and silver dishwares from Bridal Beginnings Floral & Event Design provides an elegant ambiance to this beautiful venue. Pearl accents from table ornaments and a well-designed seat plan from Chic and Unique Event Design produces this sense of modern style in a traditional class. Look at those exquisite table cloths! It matches perfectly to the golden carpet and the overall grand design.

The Wedding Cake

Another attraction of this wonderful event is a magnificent cake from Sweet Thea Cakes. A white laced multi-layer cake topped with floral frosts totally made this wedding an amazing celebration!

The Decors

Floral decors, framed table arrangements and census notes are some of the brilliant ideas from Smitten Events. These items provided wonderful ways to embellish every detail in this wedding. Even those postcard from the couple’s engagement shoot looks stunning as table decors. And don’t forget about the candles! The Setup

It’s like Valentine’s Day exploded in this plain gray room and made brunch 10 times even more romantic and fun than it already is. Isn’t this a lovely sight to see as you celebrate being a bride-to-be with your beloved BFF. Red, fuchsia, and gold dominated the room with a bit of black and white stripes to give the setup character. The Kate Spade inspired styling is so extra I am loving it! Plus crushing on the eye-popping tiffany chairs, to be honest.

If this doesn’t scream Valentine’s Day I don’t know what will.

A keen eye to details is a must!

The Photographer’s Advice

I think when it comes to ballroom, backyard, or rustic venue you can still get the ambiance you want– think of a few words to describe your wedding and keep reminding yourself of your theme. Make sure to tell your photographer what feel you’re going for too! With this styled shoot I wanted it to feel super romantic so everything I chose was soft and romantic.
