Nautical Elegance

If you originally thought that nautical and elegance are as compatible as oil and water, then allow Jessica and David to prove you wrong – for their wedding showed that the rustic side of the seas can become an element to a very beautiful event. The day started with Jessica wearing a beautiful Monique Lhuillier beige gown and a birdcage veil – very vintage sophisticated. The ceremony was done inside a historically magnificent church which was then followed by a photo shoot by the public library and pier. Talk about fully making use of picturesque structures!  It was such a delight seeing this couple being shot in a variety of backdrops – adds so much character to the album. Then the reception was adorned with nautical inspired DIY stuff and despite this, the elegance never left the building! Even the cake, which was decorated with blue nautical stripes and a hemp rope, managed to look amazing. Congratulations Jessica and David! Love ahoy!

Jessica is a private chef and has just started her own test kitchen in Boston, Shiso Kitchen. She used to be a competitive snowboarder. She and David actually met out west and moved back to Jess’s home area of Boston on 2011. David is a lead physical trainer at the acclaimed Equinox Gyms. They are a stunning and truly fun couple to be around, and though the wedding was high paced due to so many locations, it was a blast to photograph.

The Getting Ready happened at two gorgeous hotels on the Waterfront. The ceremony as at one of the largest and oldest churches in Boston, Old South Church on Copley Square. After that we headed over to the Public Library and Copley square for bridal party photos. Then we were off to the Boston Exchange Conference Center at the end of Boston’s fish pier on the waterfront for a stunning reception. All of this offered a great variety of locations for portraits, so much fun.

DIY stuff was pretty much everything you saw detail wise: I designed a logo and essentially ‘branded’ our wedding with logo, colors, type faces, textures etc. I also made the messages in bottles, menu posters & cards, hand wrote notes on all the favors, and made the tags. We picked out the lobster trap in Essex at an antique store and I made the card banner, the favor trays were antique from the Navy cafeteria I believe.

I did my own hair and makeup, and the veil was just an etsy find. Jewelry was my own: diamond studs as a gift from the groom with that cute note of ‘100 reasons why I want to marry you’, and his watch was Burberry and a wedding day gift from me. I wore a blue sapphire ring on my right hand that is a piece passed down from my mom.
